I was getting bored with my mid-length, slightly wavy hair so I decided to try the High Definition Waves service by Wella Professionals at Salon B. Creative directors Sunny and Jane Lee explained that the perm adds shape and texture to hair, while making it easy to style.

 

You can also choose how tight or loose you want curls to be. Jane analyzed my tresses and said they were healthy but naturally frizzy.

 

I started with a relaxing 30-mainute shampoo (fantastic head massage included) before Jane applied the Softening Treatment lotion on the top half of my hair. It works like a rebonding treatment but the chemical strength is much milder. The result: straighter, less frizzy hair that’s easier to manage. She also applied a pre-perm treatment serum to the lower portion of my hair.

 

The treatments were washed out two hours later and the lower half of my hair was put into medium-barrel rollers for an hour to achieve loose curls. Then, a perm neutraliser was applied to balance the pH level in my hair before it was washed and dried.

 

The final result? The top section of my hair looked sleeker and less frizzy, with natural-looking loose curls at the bottom – exactly what I wanted. Plus, my hair didn’t feel dry or damaged from the treatment.

 

I enjoyed my experience at Salon B, which is thoughtfully divided into two sections: one for haircuts and another for chemical treatments.

 

The latter has comfy cushioned seats – a considerate touch, especially if you have to sit for hours during your treatment. I also enjoyed complimentary wine and free Wi-Fi.
